I am a batchmate of Coleen in the National College of Public Administration and Governance, and I am very thankful for these very insightful, and clear discussions and clarifications regarding topics of interest to and for the public.

It is my fervent wish that there would be more legislators like you that not only bring justice to the votes people give them, but also, inspire the future leaders and the ones who will mold our future society.

Also, this is a great way to ensure people participation, by bring our officials closer to the public. More power! :)

Coleen,

Thanks for visiting my blog site!

I am humbled by your kind remarks. But I am also heartened by the fact that you are in Pubic Administration and have the desire to serve this country.

One of my goals in being a public official is to try to inspire the next generation of leaders to rise up and take the challenge to lead a revolution---not a revolution of arms but a revolution of leadership.

We are in dire need of leaders who will serve this country with integrity, sincerity and competence. The faults of past generations of leaders are bearing down upon the present generation. It is my hope and dream that this legacy of failed leaderships will not be passed on to those who will come after us.

I urge you to maintain that desire and keep the fire burning. My kids will be relying on you and your peers to succeed where those before you failed.

hello. i am a 3rd year public administration student from UP-diliman. I read all your blog entries about the M/V Princess of the Stars tragedy (from the hearings, bills, etc.)

i am moved and bothered. moved because at least we still have legislators who have the heart to serve the interest of the Filipino people. and for me, you are among them, sir. i am bothered though, because from what i read, we have many legislators also who do not really represent the people who they are supposed to represent. ever since i became a public administration student, i have learned and understood that the government is such a huge organization, complex and difficult to run.

but i have also realized that one needs not to be very intelligent to be able to serve the interest of the public; one only needs the heart and the willingness to serve(but of course i'm not saying that being part of the government does not require skill) because based on what i've read from readings in my subjects, most, if not all, governments fail because of the selfishness of its officials.

because of what i read from your blog entries, sir, the more that i want to become a public servant (if not a legislator) in the future. i hope that those "hanging" bills in congress (most esp. the most important ones) will be acted upon.. i know it's not that easy and that is why we have five days a week to work and make things happen. the way i see it, it would still take time before these problems in the legislation will be resolved. but i am positive, anyway.

thank you for writing entries like the ones i've read. i bet that i'll be visiting your website often from now on. :)
